The Master of Charity and Social Organization Management (MCO) Program of the School of Business (MSB) at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), successfully hosted a campus fundraising event themed “Learning with Kindness: Supporting Elderly Living Alone and Vulnerable Groups” on 6 – 7 November 2025, at Block O platform in the campus. The event was planned and carried out by first-year MCO students, with the supervision of Assistant Professor Zhang Qianjin, instructor of the “Charity Fundraising” course. Through a charity market featuring a variety of fundraising booths, the event raised fund for the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) and Caritas Macau.

The fundraising event was a practical component of the “Charity Fundraising” course, aiming at deepening students’ understanding on how the non-profit organizations operate in Macau while enhance their hands-on fundraising skills and civic engagement. Students from two classes planned and executed the event in small groups. Their booths featured handmade accessories made by elderly beneficiaries, cultural and creative products, and a range of student-crafted items. They also designed interactive games to encourage participation. The event attracted over a hundred of students and faculty members, generating strong support across the campus.

The event not only strengthened students’ sense of social responsibility, fundraising capabilities, and deep concern to the local community; but also embodied MSB’s mission, “contributing to the social and economic development of the local communities and the region”. The MCO Program will continue to uphold this philosophy by integrating philanthropic practice into education, guiding students to grow into future leaders who possess both professional competence and social responsibility through active engagement with the Macau community.
