Doctor of Philosophy in Management (DPM)
Study Plan
(Applicable for students admitted in the academic year 2023/2024 and afterwards)
I. Program duration
The normal study period of DPM is 3 years. The maximum study period is 6 years. (Students admitted in or before the academic year 2022/2023, please refer to the rules and regulations stipulated in the intake academic year study plan.)

IV. Admission Requirements
Applicants who have a master’s degree from a recognized university with majors in management-related areas and have passed the entrance examination given by the Macau University of Science and Technology.

Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Strategy Management, Accounting, Enterprise Management, Organizational Behavior, Public Service Operations, Banking and Finance, Business Analytics, International Relations, Public Administration, Logistics Management, and Hospitality Management.
Notes: The above research directions approved by the Government gazette will be divided into five categories:

VIII. Course Requirements
Students are required to complete 2 core courses in Table 1, 1 major compulsory course in Table 2, and 1 major elective course in Table 3 in their first year of study.
After completing all courses, students can apply for the thesis proposal defense. They should complete the thesis proposal defense by the end of the second academic year.
Once the thesis proposal defense is completed, students can start writing the dissertation. The duration for writing the dissertation should be at least 12 months and up to 24 months.
Before attending the oral defense, students must publish at least one academic paper in tier-one academic journals recognized by the Faculty or at least two academic papers in tier-two academic journals.
The dissertation should pass the assessment before proceeding to the oral defense.
IX. Study Time
The duration for taking all courses is 12 months, and the time for writing the dissertation is 12 months and up to 24 months.
X. Graduation Requirements
Upon approval from the Senate of the University, the Doctor of Philosophy in Management will be conferred on a student when he or she has:
(1) Completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period and achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50* or above (excluding dissertation);
(2) Abided by the regulations of the University;
(3) Cleared all fees and charges and returned all University property and equipment borrowed.
*Students admitted before the academic year 2023/2024, please refer to the regulations of their admission year.
