MBGZ01 Global Operations and Supply Chain Management (3 credits)
This course is designed to introduce a variety of strategies and planning methods from global perspectives to assist in the process of making supply chain and operations management decisions. To accomplish this, lecture material includes detailed examples, solved questions, and cases studies in: supply chain strategies, sourcing strategies, production strategies, supply chain network design and analysis, production / material / inventory planning, routing, supply chain risk management, and supply chain resilience.
MBGZ02 Management Science with Practice (3 credits)
This course aims to introduce how to use spreadsheets to build various models in management science, and provides the support for decision makers. Specifically, it demonstrates how to build and conduct linear programming, sensitivity analysis, network models, integer/goal/nonlinear programming, data mining, time series forecasting, and simulation through detailed cases.
MBGZ03 Research Design and Analysis (3 credits)
This course introduces research design, qualitative and quantitative research methods, so as to conduct innovative research. Specifically, it includes defining research problem, literature review, investigating research gap, building research models and hypotheses, design research tools, data collection and analysis, managerial implication, and final research report.
MBGZ04 Empirical Analysis in Supply Chain Management (3 credits)
This course aims to help research students master the fundamental theory and methods in statistics so as to analyze and solve the related issues in supply chain management. Specifically, it emphasizes the concepts and principals of factor analysis, regression analysis, logistic regression, discriminant analysis, reliability and route analysis, and their application in quality control and hypothesis in supply chain management.
MBGZ05 Business Game Theory (3 credits)
This course is an entry-level graduate econometrics course and supplies an analysis tool in economic, focusing mainly on static games of complete information, dynamic games of complete information, static games of incomplete information and dynamic games of incomplete information. By case studies, the students can apply the methods they learn to the reality.
MBGZ06 Business Optimization Theory (3 credits)
The course demonstrates the knowledge of fundamental concepts, theories, methodology, and application of business optimization in operations management and supply chain management. The insights cover business process optimization with the integration of various techniques and modelling approaches. With the case study and group projects, students can understand the crucial problems in business operations and the key influencing factors for business optimization. The course also explores how business optimization can be diverse within e-business and how the implementation of business optimization can be improved by the application of big data.
MBGZ07 Supply Chain Modeling and Simulation (3 credits)
This course introduces the theory in system simulation, modelling and analysis, and enable research students use analytic tools to simulate queuing system, system of production and operations management, and service system. It provides numerous cases to help students build the models for various real projects, analyze performance, and make decisions.
MBGZ08 Project Management in Convention and Exhibition (3 credits)
This course provides students a conceptual introduction to Project Management in Convention and Exhibition, involving organizational context, project selection and portfolio management, leadership and the project manager, scope management, project team building, conflict and negotiation, risk management, cost estimation and budgeting, project scheduling and critical path, resource management, project evaluation and control, project close-out and termination. Real life projects in Convention and Exhibition will be taken as examples. Cases and integrated project exercises will also be combined with the contents.
MBGZ09 Big Data Analytics in Supply Chain (3 credits)
This course is designed to facilitate students the understanding of quantitative data analysis tools with a special focus on big data applications in supply chain management. It will cover regression, classification, clustering, sampling and variable selection methods. In particular, this course aims to encourage students to apply the ideas and methods to solve real problems in the field of business.
MBGZ10 Data Driven Approaches and Applications (3 credits)
Data driven is another quantitative methodology different from analytical modelling. It starts from data, and results from data analytics. This course introduces main application of data driven and some typical problems to be solvable. Furthermore, it provides some analytical methods based on data, including Monte Carlo, and their application cases, limitation and possible solutions.
MBGZ11 Supply Chain Financing (3 credits)
This course is designed to give students the concepts and applications of Supply Chain Financing. To accomplish this, lecture material includes detailed examples, solved questions, and cases studies in: supply chain management and financial performance, supply chain management evolution, supply chain financing innovation in trading, operation management, logistics management, banking and e-business, and risk management in supply chain financing.
MBGZ12 Special Topic in Supply Chain Analysis (3 credits)
This course introduces common analytic models in supply chain management, and enables research students to collect data, build models, solve the problems based on computers, and make final decisions. Specifically, it includes demand forecasting, break-even analysis, material requirement planning, purchasing management, production scheduling, inventory management, distribution and transportation. The methods include mathematical modelling, forecasting model, network analysis, inventory models, statistics, queueing theory, and system simulation.
MBGZ13 Internet Plus and Supply Chain (3 credits)
With the quick development of internet technology, supply chain business transfers from offline to online, leading to a new business mode. This course enables research students to have some insight of change in supply chain under internet plus, and the new opportunity and challenges resulting from the integration of internet plus and supply chain. Furthermore, it provides some solutions from the perspectives of empirical and mathematical modelling.
MBGZ14 Supply Chain and Enterprise Resource Planning (3 credits)
This course introduces supply chain principles, practices and procedures as applied to a computerized environment of learned in supply chain courses. It includes setup of supply chain system, simulation of purchasing management, sales management, inventory management, inventory accounting, ending business, and integrated training of supply chain management. It enables students to obtain the skill to manage the whole supply chain with ERP, analyze the supply chain and solve the real issues in supply chain.
