On 9 November 2024, 27 students from MUST School of Business (MSB) participated in the “16th National College Students Mathematics Contest Guangdong Section” Non-mathematics Category B Competition (Economics and Management). The contest aimed at stimulating university students’ interest in learning mathematics, developing their problem-solving and analytical skills, while promoting the construction of mathematics curriculum in higher education. Three students stood out and ultimately won the third prize.

Jointly organized by Guangdong University of Technology and the Guangdong Province Mathematical Society, the contest results were announced in December 2024. Three students from the Bachelor of Applied Economics (BAE), including Chen Yifei, He Luochang and Peng Zicheng, won the third prize and received certificates on 14 May 2025. Under the guidance and support of Professor Ma Chao and Assistant Professor Tam Kwo Ping throughout the contest, students not only strengthened their foundational knowledge in mathematics but also gained valuable competition experience, which will greatly benefit their future academic and professional careers.

Previously, BAE students also participated in the contest in 2022 and won awards, which demonstrated MSB’s teaching achievements in mathematics and related fields, as well as showcased students’ excellent performances. In the future, MSB will continue to encourage students to participate in various academic competitions to enhance their practical skills and competitiveness, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.
