To provide students with the opportunity to apply accounting knowledge and exchange experiences in accounting, the “2025 Rui Suan Accounting Knowledge Competition” was successfully held on 29 March 2025 at the University of Macau. 3 participating teams from MUST School of Business (MSB) stood out in the preliminary stage and entered to the finals. With their accounting knowledge and teamwork, the teams were ultimately awarded the First Place, Second Prize and Participation Award.
This competition was organized by the Accounting Society of University of Macau Students’ Union and co-organized by Student Union of MUST MSB. The preliminary stage was held on 15 March and 6 teams were selected to the finals, where the case analysis focused on the goodwill valuation from an acquisition in a new energy industry. Each team shared their insights on the topic based on their knowledge, professional qualities, and team spirit.
The panel of judges for the competition consisted of Professor Philip Law from the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Macau; Doctor Jian Pu from MUST MSB; and Mr. Bernard Li, Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Macau. They provided professional comments on the content introduced by the teams and also conducted comprehensive evaluations based on professionalism, creativity, logical coherence, and other multiple dimensions.
MUST MSB students delivered outstanding performance during the competition. Ultimately, “AAA Corporate Finance Professionals” team (Formed by Year 3 students of Accounting major of BBA program: Sun Xiaoxi, Liu Qiaochu, Hou Qing, Zhang Jiaming and Gao Shu) and “The Calculation Squad” team (Formed by Year 3 students of Accounting major of BBA program: Wang Chenyi, Jin Bingqian, Xi Ruiyao, Huang Yuemeng; and Liu Xixin, a Year 3 student of Finance major of BBA program) won the First-Place and Second-Place, while “Financial Statement Alchemists” team (Formed by Year 3 students of Accounting major of BBA program: Yu Youran, Lin Haoying, Lin Yixuan, Sun Qixin, Ma Yina) was also achieved the Participation Award.

After the competition, the participating students expressed that through preparation, during competition process, and the feedback from the judges, they are able to deepen their understanding of professional knowledge, enhanced logical thinking and adaptability, as well as accumulated valuable experiences for their future career development. MUST MSB anticipates to “Promote learning through competition and teaching through competition”, while expect students to learn by integrating theory with practice, enhance financial analysis skills and accounting practices during the competition, and build up a high-level platform for nurturing accounting professionals with international perspectives and innovative spirit.
