Mr. Kuok Iat Hoi, Deputy Director of the Financial Services Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, stated that the visit aimed to promote the integrated development of Hengqin and Macau, provide assistance to Macau’s educational institutions, and accurately align the talent cultivation needs. The Finance Services Bureau hopes to gain a deeper understanding of student training, as well as the needs of students in terms of certification and internships. Mr. Kuok also introduced the plan to establish an accounting examination center in Hengqin to enhance students’ professional capabilities.
Dean Sheng Ni introduced an overview of MSB recent overall development. MSB offers multiple majors, including Business Analytics, Accounting, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, etc. The Accounting program has received various international accounting certifications over the years, including Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia). Professor Lin Yongjia added that MSB has a high proportion of mainland students who have strong demand for certificates in accounting field. Due to the teaching language and course framework, students have relatively limited knowledge of domestic accounting and tax laws, hence MSB looks forward to the support from the Bureau. Professor Li Xin also emphasized that MSB provides students with comprehensive internship programs and adopts a two-way selection pattern. Cooperative enterprises include local companies such as Nam Kwong, and Greater Bay Area companies such as Yonyou. In view of this, he hoped that the Bureau can offer more internship and employment opportunities. The Bureau responded positively and expressed readiness to allocate resources to address the relevant issues.
Student representatives expressed their expectations to develop in Hengqin in the future and shared the difficulties encountered in the process of learning, internship, job hunting and employment. The Bureau responded to student inquiries and encouraged them to maintain a sense of crisis in the rapidly changing accounting field, while also emphasized that certifications are only the “keys” of career development, and practical experience is equally important. After the meeting, Dean Sheng Ni presented a commemorative gift to Deputy Director Kuok Iat Hoi and took group photo.
