M.U.S.T. 2022/2023 Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Enterprise research was successfully completed

The 2022/2023 DBA students of the School of Business of M.U.S.T. conducted an enterprise research from May 29 to June 6, 2024, and went to Japan, the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta in the mainland in three groups. This enterprise research activity was successfully completed and carried out on schedule.

The Japan Enterprise research was conducted from May 30 to June 2, 2024 and was led by Professor Guicheng Shi of the School of Business. The four-day trip included three well-known companies: SONY Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Kikka Man Corporation (Asami Sauce). During the visit, the students participated in speeches on the topics of "The entrepreneurial perspective at the core of SONY Corporation", "The Business philosophy and business model Change of Mitsubishi Corporation" and "Opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises to build and develop in Japan", and had in-depth communicating with the speakers. This visit to Japanese companies gave students a deep experience of how foreign companies cope with competition and challenges.

The Yangtze River Delta Enterprise Research was conducted from May 29 to June 1, 2024, and the students, led by Associate Professor Ting Nie of the School of Business, visited Shanghai. In-depth communication and interaction were conducted with the management personnel of four enterprises, namely Meituan Technology Co., LTD., Xingyin Information Technology Co., LTD. (Little Red Book), Shanghai Shendi Ecological Group Co., LTD., and Shanghai Hongyi Software Technology Co., LTD. These communications not only deepen the understanding of contemporary business management models, operating processes and market positioning, but also help students to update their knowledge and concepts and remain sensitive to change in order to better complete the doctoral program in Business Administration.

The Pearl River Delta Enterprise research was conducted from June 5 to June 6, 2024, and the students were led by Associate Professor Zhuo Zhang from the School of Business to Shenzhen and Guangzhou, where they visited five representative enterprises, including Shenzhen Basic Semiconductor Company and Tridge Technology Company, and Guangzhou iFlytek, Dark Matter Intelligence Group (DMAI) and GAC Research Institute. As a key development area for national science and technology innovation and a new generation of artificial intelligence innovation, enterprises in Shenzhen and Guangzhou demonstrated the current development status and future vision planning. Through interacting with business executives, students gain insight into the challenges and opportunities that exist in the development of AI enterprises.

The research of enterprises in the three places enables students to have a comprehensive understanding of the development status and trends of different types of enterprises, enhancing their cognition of management theory through field visits to enterprises. This research activity is one of the compulsory subjects of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program of the School of Business at Macau University of Science and Technology, requiring students to complete research on at least two companies in the second or third studying year, and submit related research reports.
