MUST School of Business and Bank of China Macau Branch jointly held the opening ceremony of the “Experiential Learning in Financial Institutions” course

To meet the evolving needs of Macau’s society and financial market and to cultivate high-quality financial professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the School of Business (MSB) of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), and Bank of China Macau Branch continue to launch the “Experiential Learning in Financial Institutions” course. The opening ceremony of the course was taken place on 10 September 2026 at Bank of China Macau Branch. Guests attending the ceremony included Mr. Cheng Wenhao, Deputy Director of the Personal Banking and Channel Management Department of Bank of China Macau Branch; Ms. Lao Ieng Lam, Head of the Personal Banking and Channel Management Department; and Associate Professor Ma Rufei from the MUST MSB.

Deputy Director Cheng Wenhao delivered a speech and affirmed the positive development of MUST in recent years and its contributions to talent cultivation. He noted that, as one of the most influential financial institutions and one of the note-issuing banks in Macau, Bank of China Macau Branch is an important component of Macau’s financial system and has long been committed to supporting financial talent development and higher education in Macau. He encouraged students to cherish this valuable learning and internship opportunity, actively engage in the course, gain a better understanding of banking operations and financial markets through practical experience, and deepen their knowledge of the financial industry.

Associate Professor Ma Rufei expressed his appreciation to Bank of China Macau Branch for its continued support of the teaching and practical training initiatives of MUST, particularly in providing students with valuable opportunities to gain firsthand exposure to financial services and understand the practical operations of a bank. He encouraged students participating in the course to make the most of this internship opportunity, engage actively with the learning platform, deepen their understanding of financial knowledge through practice, integrate classroom learning with real-world work experience, and continuously enhance their professional knowledge and practical skills.

Course instructors introduced the history of Bank of China Macau Branch and Qiaopi culture

During the opening ceremony, the course instructors from Bank of China Macau Branch introduced the course arrangements and key components of the “Experiential Learning in Financial Institutions” program. They also guided the students on a visit to learn about the history and development of Bank of China Macau Branch and to explore the historical and cultural significance of Qiaopi (overseas remittance letters). Through the visit, students gained a deeper understanding of the historical connection between financial services and the development of Macau society, while developing a more direct and comprehensive understanding of banking operations and financial culture. During the activity, students actively participated in discussions and exchanges, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
