The School of Business (MSB) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) has always supported students’ participation in various academic and technical contests, aiming for a close integration of theoretical learning with practical business applications. On May 17 and 18, 2025, two teams representing MUST MSB participated in the finals of the “5th International Supply Chain Modeling Contest” and respectively won the first prize and third prize, demonstrating the MSB’s efforts in cultivating talents in the field of supply chain. The competition was taken place at Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) and organized by China Communications and Transportation Association, co-organized by its training center and GDUT, with technical support from Beijing Logis.
This edition of the contest focused on the theme of “Digital modeling empowerment, cost reduction, efficiency improvement in supply chain”, aiming to advance industry-academic cooperation in the supply chain field, enhance research and application of supply chain modeling technology, and promote the training of high-end supply chain modeling talents. The participating teams made use of actual supply chain cases provided to apply supply chain modeling theories, methods, and tools. They orderly collected data, built system models, analyzed problems, designed solutions, and presented their findings based on the design solutions.
This contest attracted a total of 574 teams from 361 schools, with a total of 2508 participants. After the preliminary selection, a total of 96 teams advanced to the national finals, including 29 challenging teams from mainland and internationally renowned universities, elite teams from 38 undergraduate groups, and 29 teams from higher vocational groups. In the final round, the “Must02” team, consisted of Zhang Juxin, Wang Tianrun, Huang Yueying, and Dong Xinyan, achieved the first prize with their outstanding performances. Besides, the “Must01” team, consisted of Mei Duoduo, Zhang Yingying and Yu Yunzhong, was awarded the third prize. Professor Tang Huajun and Assistant Professor Wu Jie, supervising professors of the two teams, were recognized as the Excellent Mentor. This inspiring result showcased the MSB’s outstanding achievements in integrating teaching with practical application.

During the finals, the representative teams optimized and innovated the network structure and inventory management strategy of the supply chain for Company F, a leading enterprise in China’s new energy vehicle industry. They utilized supply chain modeling optimization masters, Python, and big data technology for joint optimization modeling and simulation, along with visual analysis. These strategies provided the enterprise with scientifically sound optimization solutions, while improving supply chain resilience and promoting the development of green supply chains.
Professor Sheng Ni, Dean of MSB, congratulated the participating students and teachers on their outstanding achievements. She expressed that MSB is dedicated to enhancing students’ analytical and problem-solving abilities. In response to the technological advancements, MSB has established ERP, big data, blockchain, RPA, and supply chain modeling training labs in recent years to build up a higher-quality learning environment, to lay a solid foundation for students’ future career development.
