Opening Ceremony of School of Business of M.U.S.T. and Bank of China Macau branch Co-organized the 10th training course of “Study On Financial Issues”

The opening ceremony of the School of Business (MSB) of M.U.S.T. and Bank of China Macau branch (BOC Macau) co-organized the course of “Study On Financial Issues” was held on February 22, 2024, at the 3rd-floor conference hall of BOC building of Macau. The course aims to nurture competitive financial professionals who can meet the needs of the financial market and serve society. It is the 10th training course since 2015. The guests who attended the opening ceremony included Mr. Leung Sio Hong, General Manager of Private Banking and Channel Management at Bank of China Macau Branch, Ms. Lao Lam Ieng, Head of Scenario Development Division of Private Banking and Channel Management at Bank of China Macau Branch and Associate Prof. Lin Yong Jia, Head of Department of Accounting and Finance of MSB.

During his speech, Mr. Leung Sio Hong highly praised for MUST’s contribution to social and economic development and its high influence in related academic and professional fields. He introduced that BOC (Macau), a prominent commercial bank, possesses strong industry competitiveness within the banking sector. Additionally, he shared the economic transformation initiatives implemented by the BOC Macau branch in response to current global economic trends and developments in the Greater Bay Area, such as digital finance and fintech. Finally, Mr. Leung reminded all students to guard against all kinds of fraud and expressed his best wishes to the course and all students.

Associate Prof. Lin Yongjia affirmed BOC Macau’s local development and thanked it for providing more internship places and internship opportunities in multi-department scenarios to MSB students this year. Secondly, she reviewed the learning situation since the course was launched and briefly introduced the purpose of setting up this course. It is hoped that through the internship, students can understand the operation of banks and master cutting-edge knowledge such as digital finance and financial technology. Finally, she hoped that students would seize the opportunity to improve themselves.

There are 35 outstanding MSB students to participate in this internship course. At the opening ceremony, the BOC (Macau) instructor also gave a wonderful introduction to the course, introduced the bank's frontline services and individual financial business products, and organized students to participate in an interesting Q&A session on financial institutions. The students actively participated in the discussion and answered questions enthusiastically. The ceremony ended successfully with joy and laughter.
