The 2023 “ICBC Cup” FinTech Innovation Competition for National College Students, organized by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and hosted by its Macau branch, came to a thrilling conclusion with the finals and award ceremony held on November 28 at the Centenário de Fátima Auditorium, Colégio Diocesano de São José, 6. Over a three-month span, 257 participants from 20 universities submitted 72 projects in diverse fields such as artificial intelligence, green finance, cross-border finance, digital currency, and anti-money laundering. Ultimately, 18 innovative projects made it to the finals.
Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) students won three awards. The winning MUST team, consisting of Huang Haoze and Lu Yuning from the School of Business (MSB), along with Cui Kai from the Faculty of Innovation Engineering, won the first prize with their project, named " ‘Macau Shield NO.1’: Digital Credit Risk Management Platform for Macau SMEs." Zhong Hanfei from MSB earned the second prize with "Policy Financing Facilitation Solution," and Pan Xiaoqing from the Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T., in collaboration with Liu Yongtong from the University of Macau, captured the third prize with "ICBC Dynamic Insurance Group Donation-based Crowdfunding Platform." Associate Professor Lin Yongjia, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance of MSB was honored with the Outstanding Mentor Award.
The ICBC Cup FinTech Innovation Competition for National College Students, a creativity-driven contest tailored for college students, has grown over the past decade into a highly recognized and socially influential innovation among students and faculty nationwide. In its 13 years, the competition has reached over a thousand universities, engaging over 4 million college students, and generating over 50,000 financial innovation projects. It has played a crucial role in cultivating innovative talents, promoting financial services innovation, and contributing to developing a digital China.
