Master’s Student from the School of Business of MUST Achieves Remarkable Results in the "Nie Gannu Cup" National Chinese Poetry Invitational
The 2023 "Nie Gannu Cup" National Chinese Poetry Invitational for University Students was successfully held on April 22,2024 at Wuhan, Hubei. The student Zhu Weize, Master of Applied Economics at MSB, won third prize. This competition was co-organized by the Chinese Poetry Society, the Hubei Province Students' Federation, and Central China Normal University.
The theme of the competition, "Strive Forward, Poetry Blooms Brightly," aimed to promote the inheritance and development of Chinese culture while boosting the cultural confidence of young scholars, attracting 2,563 entries from 184 universities across 29 provinces and regions in China. After rounds of preliminary, semi-final, and expert evaluations, 3 grand prizes, 3 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 10 third prizes were awarded.
Participants from various universities showcased their strong poetic skills and creativity. Zhu Weize's original collection, "Chengdu Reflections (A Group of Poems)," impressed the judges with its emotional depth and profound imagery.
Zhu Weize expressed his honor in receiving an award at a national poetry competition. It is not only a recognition of his personal poetic abilities but also an encouragement for the academic and cultural atmosphere at Macau University of Science and Technology. In his speech, Zhu said, "I am deeply grateful to my university and mentors for their support. This competition allowed me to appreciate the rich heritage of Chinese culture and has inspired me to continue pursuing poetry in the future. I believe the beauty of Chinese poetry will be passed down from generation to generation, ever fresh and enduring."
Since its inception in 2015, the "Nie Gannu Cup" has aimed to foster an appreciation for Chinese culture, share the beauty and joy of poetry, and enhance cultural confidence among young university students nationwide. This prestigious competition has been held for nine consecutive years, becoming a key platform for the creation and exchange of poetry among university students.
