On April 19 2019, Macau Institute of Financial Services (IFS) set up an internship programs for Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) students. The ‘IFS Development Plan of Local Talents for Finance and Insurance Sectors of Macau’, aiming to prepare a pool of qualified talents for those economic sectors of Macau. On the one hand, the plan provides a unique opportunity for university students to act as an intern at a range of functions at departments of banks and insurance companies, as the case may be, learning about different financial/insurance products and customer services, and on other important areas of those entities. On the other hand, it will also enable the participating banks and insurance companies to source and identify manpower for future employment, and enhancing Macau competitiveness as a financial center.
The plan includes the following internship programs: FinTech Career Accelerator Scheme (FCAS), Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Private Wealth Management, Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Banking Operations, Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Life Insurance Operations, Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Non-Life Insurance Operations, Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Financial Leasing, and Pilot Apprenticeship Program for Private Pension Funds.
