Professor Regina Betz from ZHAW visited the Business School and gave a lecture

Professor Regina Betz from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences visited the School of Business at the Macau University of Science and Technology on October 27th by giving a speech - Emissions Trading Scheme and Lessons learnt from the EU. More than 70 staff and students from the Business School attended the seminar and discussed related issues with the professor. In her presentation, Regina explained the coverage, operating mechanism, emission reduction targets and carbon price evolution of the EU carbon market. She also analyzed the problems and corresponding reform measures encountered in the current EU ETS.

Professor Betz’s work focuses on climate change policies and their associated instruments, such as Joint Implementation, the Clean Development Mechanism and particularly emissions trading. She has been a consultant to the German Federal Ministry of Environmental with respect to the Kyoto Mechanisms and Emissions trading, and has been closely involved with European Union and United Nations negotiations on climate change (UNFCCC).
